If you were in other countries across the globe, you’d likely stumble upon similar Community Chaplain schemes – but this is the first of its kind in New Zealand. 

Traditionally, churches were community hubs where people came together not just to worship, but to connect with those around them. Today, however, things have changed. Many people are not aware of the support available through local churches.

And so Community Chaplains was born. People from all walks of life can reach out to their local Community Chaplain and seek support and guidance towards emotional and spiritual fulfilment.

All our chaplains volunteer their time and energy with support from their church leaders. We then have a careful selection process to ensure that everyone is suitable for the role. Following selection, we take them through a training programme before each chaplain begins their time in their community.

Connections build community – and we are doing our part to make that happen.
